Monon Lake is slightly smaller than Olallie Lake, but it is still the second-largest lake in the scenic area. We parked at the Monon Lake Trail #729 trailhead (the one towards the north end of the lake). We were able to walk down to the edge of the lake and had a nice view. The fire damage is rather extensive, especially on the east shore of the lake. FS 4220 follows along the edge of this lake.
I'm not sure what condition the Monon Lake Trail #729 is currently in, especially the section that travels down the east side of the lake. We didn't hike any of it this time.
