East Lake is the smaller of the two lakes within the Newberry cauldera, but it is by no means small. According to the Forest Service, "East Lake is 6,381 feet above sea level, is approximately a mile in diameter, and the average depth is just over 67 feet."

There are multiple campgrounds, a resort, hot springs, a boating site, and day use areas. This lake also allows motorized and non-motorized boats.

We stopped at the Hot Springs Boat Site and walked to the waters edge. The lake was pretty and rather large. We didn't have much time to explore, but I was glad I got to at least see the lake.
