This unnamed viewpoint is right along the Steens Mountain Loop Rd, just a little ways before the Little Blitzen Overlook. There is a wide shoulder on the east side of the road along Big Indian Gorge that denotes the viewpoint. There’s no signs and it isn’t an official overlook, but it is a popular spot to stop none the less. 

I’ve had lunch here many times throughout my childhood. It has a great view of Big Indian Gorge that’s a bit different than Big Indian Overlook further ahead. From this viewpoint more of the gorge area to the south is visible.

We spent some time wandering along the hillside and looking at the gorge with binoculars. This time around there were wildflowers out and we could even spot the trail at the bottom of Big Indian Gorge along Big Indian Creek.
