A lake along the north side of Steens Mt Loop Road on Steens Mountain.

Access: Drive up

Permits/Fees: None

Note: Lily Lake is located right next to Lily Lake Primitive Camping Area which has spots for dispersed camping. It's more rugged than the two campgrounds nearby.

Location: Near Steens Mountain Loop Rd in Harney County, Oregon, U.S.A.

Administration: Bureau of Land Management (BLM)

I’ve been to this lake and the primitive camping area near it multiple times, but never actually took a picture or wrote anything about it.



We were spending the day exploring the Steens Mt Loop Rd on the north side to the point where it was gated as of May 23, 2026 at the second gate right past Jackman Park Campground.

Lily Lake is visible from the road, but for the easiest access and what I consider the prettiest view, it is best to access it through the first campsite on the left which has a nice short access trail to the edge of the lake. The lake is covered in lily pads and has a lot of brush along its edge. The whole area around it filled with aspen trees is stunning. Definitely a fun little spot to stop and take pictures.
