Cold Spring Lake

A popular lake for camping and swimming in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Lake Name: Cold Spring Lake

Lake Coordinates: 46.08539, -121.75859

Lake Elevation: 4166'

Access: Drive up

Note: Very popular swimming hole

Date: 8-20-23

As we were driving along FS 24, I saw a lake on my map. I didn't have it on my list of lakes in Gifford Pinchot National Forest since it wasn't labeled on the forest service map — it appeared as though it was a part of the Surprise Lakes. We decided to check it out. We found an unmarked dirt road that was narrow and led to the lake. There were tons of off-shoots of roads. There were lots of people scattered in the area dispersed camping around the lake and surrounding area. We struggled to find a spot to get out just to take some quick pictures. I was shocked by how busy and people-filled this water hole was. It was very popular. There were lots of families and kids swimming. This was a relatively small lake, but a decent size to swim in.

Resources

I wasn't able to find anything about this lake online. It's unnamed and/or not on most maps. On my GaiaGPS map it showed the lake with it's name.
