A lake with many recreation opportunities in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
Lake Name: Goose Lake Lake Coordinates: 45.9413, -121.7642 Lake Elevation: 3074′ Access: Drive up Ranger District: Mt Adams Note: Recreation pass is required for day use area. Date: 6-8-21
I’d seen online that the Forest Service labels Goose Lake as a heavily used area. I tend to avoid places with tons of people, but since it was so early in the season I decided to give it a try.
My cousin and I drove to the turn off for the lake. I didn’t know if there was a day use area, or if it was only a campground. We found there was a day use parking area and boat launch, then the campground was right after it. It was a decent sized lake and there were quite a few people out fishing.
It was a bit overcast and there was a wind blowing across the lake, making the water a bit choppy. This would be a cool lake to come back to kayak.
How to get there (from Trout Lake, WA)
Take Hwy 141 out of Trout Lake, WA for 5.5 miles. At the Forest Service Boundary the road turns into FS 24, continue for 2.4 miles. Proceed straight on to FS 60 and continue for 5.5 miles. Turn right into the Goose Lake Campground and Day Use Area.
