Diablo Lake

Lake Name: Diablo Lake Lake Elevation: 1201′ Access: Viewpoint Facilities: Parking lot and bathrooms Lookout: Vista Point Notes: This is a popular viewpoint along Hwy 20 and for good reason. The view is easy to access and incredible.

Location: Along Highway 20 in North Cascades National Park, Washington, U.S.A. Date Accessed: 7-12-20

Diablo Lake has been on my bucket list since I was 13. It was only 48 minutes away from the Monogram Lake Trailhead where my cousin and I did our backpacking trip. The incredible turquoise blue water was what really made me want to see it. So at 20 (almost 21) I finally made it to the lake. We drove down Hwy 20 to the Vista Point viewpoint. The drive was so beautiful too.

The viewpoint was busy with people, but there were still open parking spots. We got out and took pictures. It was just as incredible in person as in the pictures I’d seen, if not even more so. The water color is amazing, but the peaks towering along all sides were equally as amazing. I definitely want to come back and explore more of the area around Diablo Lake. The viewpoint also has restrooms which doubles as a rest stop.

If you’re anywhere near North Cascades National Park, it is worth the drive to see this lake.
